You have received your British Berkefeld® gravity filter and we would like to thank you for choosing us. It will provide you with healthy, pure water for many years to come.
Please follow the following instructions carefully when fitting your filter.
Before proceeding with assembly
- Carefully unpack each component of your British Berkefeld® system, removing their protective packaging.
- Check that you have the correct number of components by following the diagram, bearing in mind that the number of components supplied depends on the model ordered.
- Wash your hands and keep clean during assembly, so as not to contaminate any parts.
Assembling your British Berkefeld®
Lid
- Assemble the cover (2) and its knob (1) by inserting the screw (3) into the hole in the cover, and tightening by hand.
Lower bowl
- Thread the large rubber anti-slip seal onto the base of the lower bowl (12).
Filter elements
- For each filter element to be installed, insert a sealing washer (10) onto the threaded rod of the filter (5). Place each element (5) in an available hole in the upper chamber (4).
Note: The number of filters to be installed depends on the model. For models with 4 holes and only 2 filters installed, the holes must be blocked with the plugs provided (13).
- Secure each element (5) by screwing a wing nut (11) onto the threaded rod.
Tap
- Thread a small washer (8) onto the threaded part of the tap (7).
- Insert the threaded part of the tap (7) into the hole in the lower chamber (6).
- Place the second washer (8) on the tap thread inside the tank and screw on with the nut (9). Tighten firmly by hand only.
- Place the upper chamber (4) on the lower chamber (6) and put the lid (2) on the upper bowl (4).
Setting up the new filters
When they are first used, you should wipe them with a damp cloth to remove any residual dust.
Then turn off the tap, fill the upper tank (4) completely, then allow the water to pass through the filters to fill the lower tank. When the upper tank is empty, open the tap and drain the water, without consuming it. Refill the upper tank, and let it run for 1 litre or more, until the water runs clear. Your British Berkefeld® is ready to use.
